Summer 2025 Hours @ The Mercantile

Our schedules were such that we could not be open late for the first two Groovin’ on the Green concerts, but we will be open late for the third! Then, we won’t be for the fourth and final one because we’re taking a long weekend to have some vacation time with family. We will re-open on Thursday the 26th at our regular time. And, as always, we will be closed for the 4th of July (but open on the 5th).

We hope everyone has a wonderful Summer.

Parking Notice

The town notified everyone today (2/6/2025) that the parking lot will remain closed until 2/14/2025.

If you are planning a trip to downtown Pendleton, starting this Thursday (January 30, 2025), please be aware that the parking lot will be closed to be re-surfaced. **** UPDATE **** They will begin on Wednesday 1/29/25. ****

It has been needed for a long time (it has been sealed and lines painted a couple of times, but not resurfaced since Terri got here in 1995. The town did not own the property until a long time after that), and we are grateful that the budgeting has occurred, the bids have been accepted, and it will finally happen.

Terri & Cindy plan to carpool to work during that time period and park on Broad Street to leave the spaces closer to the businesses for customers/clients of all the businesses.

Opening later on 10/12/24

The Mercantile will open at noon on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

We have family in town visiting and decided it was a wonderful opportunity for us to place Dad’s ashes in the crypt with Mom’s ashes. It was something that we wanted more than just the 2 of us to participate in. All 6 siblings and a few of the spouses are here (or will be) and they hail from western NY, eastern MA & east/central NC.

It will be a short ceremony and then we can let the rest of the family visit with each other while we come and spend our day in our happy place. Don’t worry, we will have Sunday and Monday to visit with all of them as well.

Our Anniversary Month!

This month marks the 36th Anniversary of the store our mom started. We are honored to continue her dream.

Looking back at all the changes that have been made through the years. Shifting with the sands of time is imperative for survival.

The constants that have been with us since Day 1 in 1988: Old Fashioned Candy (bulk and novelty), Some Food items, Gourmet Coffee Beans, Candles, Baby Gifts, Children’s Books, Toys, Plush, Wind Chimes, Sercy items, Greeting Cards, and Complimentary Gift Wrap. In between we have had Collectibles, Home Decor, Rubber Stamps & Supplies, Beads & Beading Supplies, Soaps & Lotions, Garden Flags, and more… Currently, we have all the items she started with, as well as the expanded selection of Games for the whole family, Soaps & Lotions, The World’s Softest Socks, some of the Rubber Stamping Supplies, and some of the Beading Supplies. We have concentrated on the areas that have done well for us. Our food items have expanded (they always have ebbed and flowed), as have our Children’s Books, Baby Gifts, Games, Toys, and Soaps & Lotions.

In 2021 we started our renovations. We complete each stage as time and funding allow. The new flooring in January prompted us to invest in new cabinets and display shelves. There is still more to be done, but we are pleased with the progress made so far.

We will be having our 36th Anniversary Open House on Saturday, August 24. We hope you will be able to join us.
