Although we do not carry open stock of beading supplies or rubberstamping supplies, we are available to schedule small (1 – 4 people) A-La-Carte classes preferably starting in the mornings on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays before we open for business. Please contact us if you are interested.
We prepare our class and events by request. If there is something you would like to learn, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request, either in the form of one of our previous sessions or through other arrangements. Scrolling back through the class schedule will show some of the classes we have done in the past. **At the moment, our calendar is not functioning in a way that we can add anything new. Please check the “News” page for any classes or events. Thank you for your patience. **
Crafting A-La-Carte is available Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day (mornings 9-11 & afternoons 1-3, we are flexible about those times). The time is available for class but nothing is scheduled until someone reserves the time. The first person to reserve the time chooses what the class will be. We need a minimum of 24 hours notice so we can prepare (some classes require 48 hours to prepare materials). Most classes are available (dependent upon materials availability).
One time of the year that it is difficult to schedule specific Saturday classes is football season. Pendleton is in such close proximity to Clemson that our traffic flow is greatly affected at certain times of the day on home game Saturdays. And our students, who many of which are also fans, are not always able to attend. We therefore schedule a variety of A-La-Carte and Open Studio times instead for those who wish to work around football.
A MUSE is a FREE group of creative souls that meets once a month, with a variety of topics on the agenda. It is a non formal gathering, with a lot of discussion and show and tell. The idea of the group is to explore a variety of techniques in a variety of media as a group. Each month we usually have an exercise for each member to create, contemplate and explore. If you are interested in joining us, call the Mercantile and let us know so that we can ensure there is enough seating for all.
Wind Chimes – 2 hours – Cindy Earl Higgins – $20
Create a set of clay wind chimes to hang on your front porch or in your garden.
These will be allowed to dry and then Cindy will fire them for pick-up and assembly at a later date.

We have days set aside as a la carte days. There is not a class scheduled until someone reserves the time (24 hour advanced notice needed to prepare.), then they get to pick the topic. We will run a class for as few as 1 person and as many as 6 normally. If you have a larger group we can hold up to 15. If you don’t see a class that you want please ask…we have a number of talented teachers who can do just about anything…… and we can customize classes as well, depending on what supplies we have on hand.
Initially Speaking – 2 hours – Terri Earl Brooks – $20
Create an initial worthy of framing! Class includes a glass frame.
Cocktail Napkin Cards – 2 hours – Cindy Earl Higgins – $20
You may ask how can you make greeting cards out of cocktail napkins… let Cindy show you a variety of ways.
Not all of these cards pictured were done in one class, but all were made with cocktail napkins. We will make 4 cards and they will vary class to class based on what napkins work with the design ideas Cindy has in her head.

The Altered Canvas Project, 3 hours, $35.00, Terri Earl Brooks
June 2017 – By the Sea
The Altered Canvas Project is Terri’s version of a painting party. For each project, she will have a completed Altered Canvas Design that will be recreated by the students.
The Altered Canvas Project is a 3 hour class. Each student will recreate a mixed media piece on a gallery wrapped canvas. All materials needed to complete the piece are included in the cost of the class. Aprons, easels, and tools are available for student use during the class.
This class is being held during store hours, and is limited to 6 students. Larger groups can be scheduled as an evening A La Carte.

We thought it was about time we had our friend Katie Dante bring her selection of LuLaRoe clothing for you to shop right here at The Mercantile again. This is a great time to pick out some fresh fashions for Summer!
LuLaRoe is a line of easy-care, comfortable clothing for women, men and children. They are well known for their buttery soft leggings, but their collection spans tops, skirts, dresses, and “sweaters” in a variety of styles. The sizing ranges from XXS to 3XL for women and the children’s sizes cover from toddlers to teenagers. Men’s sizes I have not looked at yet, so I cannot say how they range.
LuLaRoe only makes a limited number of items in a variety of sizes from each fabric, if you see a print you like in a size that fits, you need to get it because it may not show up again. The consultants/stylists can only order by size & style, the rest is a mystery to them until they open the boxes.
